American Idol Top 11 Part 2 Recap
American Idol Top 11; Part 2
Well last week who saw that coming, I sure as heck didn’t and I bet no one else in America did either. Casey was the bottom vote getter and was then saved by the judges, I saw that coming but what was with the tad overdramatic performance he put on after he was saved? How funny would it be to see Casey go home again this week and not be saved, I think it would be kind of funny. So this week’s theme is Elton John tunes and without further a due, here are the top 11 yet again performance by performance.
Theme- Songs of Elton John
Scotty McCreery sings; Country Comfort
TK Take- Every time I listen to Scotty sing, it sounds like something I could hear on country radio today and that’s saying something. I love country music and whether he wins Idol or not, he’s going to be a big star in country radio, you heard it here first. I’m not too familiar with most Elton songs but I loved Scotty’s take on this song because his voice just fits the song perfectly, he does a terrific job!
Status- In no danger
Naima Adedapo sings; I’m Still Standing
TK Take- When I heard she was going to change it up and make it reggae I was like oh no because I do like this song a lot. I admire her for trying to mix it up and make it her own but come on America, I can’t be the only one who hates this performance right? She doesn’t sound good and the arrangement just plain sucks, sorry but I won’t sugar coat it here. She takes the song and completely ruins it in my eyes, sorry Naima but you have yet to impress me and we’re a few weeks in already.
Status- She will be at risk with this performance.
Paul McDonald sings; Rocket Man
TK Take- One of the most recognizable and covered songs of all-time. Everyone in America knows this song. I have never been the biggest Paul fan but for some reason tonight his voice came across better on this track. He did change it up pretty drastically if I do say so but in my opinion it worked. While he still isn’t one of my favorite contestants he did step up a little bit, sounded pretty good tonight.
Status- In no danger
Pia Toscano; sings Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me
TK Take- Another Elton classic that everyone can sing along too. Sure it’s another ballad for our ballad singer but if it ain’t broke don’t fix it right? Yet another strong performance from Pia who now and clearly put herself as one of the top 3 contestants on the show and clearly is the front runner for the girls, no one can touch her voice. She doesn’t change the song up a lot but she sings it so well, she doesn’t need to. She just knows how to deliver each week and keeps getting better and better.
Status- Will be around for a long, long while.
Stefano Langone; sings Tiny Dancer
TK’s Take- One of my favorite guilty pleasure songs, I absolutely love this song. It is one of the most recognizable songs of all-time in my opinion and I am interested to see how Stefano can make it his own. Not one of my favorite performances if I’m being honest. He doesn’t have the big powerful voice that I think is required to really nail this song and it just kind of squeaks by without much notice while I’m listening to it. Sorry Stefano, but for a guy who has been in the bottom three a couple of times, it looks like you may be headed back there again very soon.
Status- Headed to the bottom 3
Lauren Alaina ; sings Candle in the Wind
TK’s Take- Another Elton classic that everyone has heard at least once in their lifetime and can more then likely relate to it in one way or another. I think it’s a great song choice for her because she has a strong voice. I’m glad she doesn’t change it up much because this is just one of those songs you don’t mess with. It will stand the test of time and she does a pretty good job singing it. She does enough to make it sound like her own and I could picture hearing this version on the radio, well done.
Status- In no jeopardy
James Durbin; sings Saturday Night’s Alright
TK’s Take- I love this song and have enjoyed some covers of it too including the Nickelback/Kid Rock version and I have some high hopes for James version because he is my favorite contestant. I love the way that he interacts with the crowd is the only one who really knows how to engage the crowd. As for the singing, he does a pretty good job, not one of my favorite performances but he still does a pretty good job and I love the energy level he puts into each performance. Loved the ending notes, keep rocking dude!
Status- In no jeopardy
Thia Megia sings; Daniel
TK’s Take- Um, she’s singing what? Daniel? I’ve never heard of this song before, so hopefully she sings it well, cause I do enjoy her voice. I love the quiet way she opens the song with just a piano and her voice. I think she delivers a pretty emotional performance of the song and I think she sounded much better tonight then she has in previous weeks. I think her voice is so unique and dynamite anyways and I just love her and the piano tonight, she definitely knocks it out of the park if you ask me.
Status- Has been in the bottom three before; but not sure if she’s going to do enough to get out of it again...on the fence.
Casey Abrams; sings Your Song
TK’s Take- A classic song yet again so let’s see how the one time favorite handles the pressure of being the saved contestant. I liked the way it was just him and the piano but I’m starting to sense that while I enjoyed his voice in the early stages of the show, I’m starting to realize that it’s just good, not great like many thought it was. I think he is much more laid back tonight and finally just sings a song instead of screaming one. He does do a good job with the song and you can tell he is nervous and who could blame him. Props to Casey tonight, he rebounds nicely.
Status- America made a statement last week that no one saw coming will it happen again, who knows but if I had to call it right now on the spot, he will be safe and advance.
Jacob Lusk; sings Sorry Seems to be the hardest word
TK’s Take- I just love his voice, what more can I say. Not too familiar with this song but I can hear myself listening to Jacob’s version on the radio, he just has that quality about his voice that comes across in each performance he gives. He is showing us all why he could very well make it to the very end. He has a raw powerful voice and seems to approach each song with such a clear head and he’s one of the best contestants the show has ever had. Yet another terrific performance!
Status- Isn’t going anywhere, safe.
Haley Reinhart; sings Bennie and the Jets
TK’s Take- I was anxious to see who was going to cover this one and when Haley selected it, I was like damn. Sorry but I’ve never been a big fan of hers, so here’s hoping she can cover it and make it her own. And yet again I’m disappointed with her performance, seriously I don’t get why she made it to the top 13. She has an average voice at best and this cover is just terrible. This song is a classic and her voice on it completely ruins it for me. Doesn’t do any justice to this timeless classic.
Status- Could be headed for trouble
Best Performance of the Night- Jacob Lusk and Pia
So here’s my prediction for the bottom 3:
Naima
Stefano
Haley
Alternates- Paul or Casey
My prediction on whose going home this week: Naima & Stefano will be headed home.
Am I right with my assumptions and opinions, please let me know guys and sound off. Thanks everybody!!!

2011 MLB Season Preview Mike vs. TK
Ladies and Gentlemen of the TK Takeout MLB 2011 Preview Jury; I proudly present to you two distinguished commentators with their take on what’s to come this upcoming baseball season. On one side you have a man whose obsession with baseball is known to all who know him, Mr. White Sox aka Mike, and on the other side you have a man who bleeds Yankee pinstripes, Tim. Both have their favorite teams and a passion for them, but all of that has been put aside to bring you the best and least bias predictions and thoughts on the 2011 MLB season.
The American League East: 2010 Winner- Tampa Bay Rays 96-66
Mike’s take on the AL East:
With the additions the Red Sox made in the off season, they are the clear favorites to win their first division title since 2007. The Red Sox Opening Day lineup spent a combined 451 days on the DL in 2010, and they still won 89 games. Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford were added to what was already a very good lineup. With 5 very good starting pitchers, and a solid backend of the bullpen outside of Bobby Jenks (who seems like he would rather rip Ozzie and the Sox instead of pitching. Memo to Bobby, you should just shut up, there are people in the Sox organization, and outside of it, including myself, that can air out some things about you that can ruin your career…just be careful), it is going to be hard for any other team besides Boston to win the division in 2011.
Tim’s Take on the AL East:
The balance of power has definitely shifted in the AL East this past offseason with the Red Sox acquiring arguably two of the biggest free agent names in Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez, both of whom will add some fire power to an already pretty explosive lineup. The Yankees (my team) failed to acquire any of the before mentioned names and missed out on the Cliff Lee sweepstakes, and with an aging lineup, I still see the Yankees being competitive but don’t expect a huge push into the postseason from the Bronx Bombers. 2011 AL East Champion- Boston Red Sox (As much as it pains me to say this I have to go with the team that has the talent and with a loaded pitching staff and an even more loaded lineup their new star acquisitions should carry this team very far in 2011.) But I have been wrong before!
Consensus from Tim and Mike- Boston Red Sox
The American League Central: 2010 Winner- Minnesota Twins 94-68
Mike’s Take on the AL Central:
The AL Central seems to be a 3 horse race. The White Sox, Tigers, and Twins all have a legitimate chance of popping corks by the end of September. The Sox had one of the most memorable offseason in franchise history. Signing one of the best power hitters in baseball, Adam Dunn, got the off season on the right foot. Then re-signing World Series hero’s Pierzynski and Konerko was the icing on top. They weren’t done, as the Sox completed a great offseason by signing setup man Jesse Crain from the hated Twins. The Sox come into 2011 with a balanced lineup, and one of the top pitching staff in baseball. The Sox season can be summed up in two words: Quentin & Peavy. If those two are healthy, the White Sox will win the division, and make a run in the playoffs. Look for Gordon Beckham and Edwin Jackson to breakout in a huge way, and lead the Sox to the postseason.
Tim’s Take on the AL Central:
The injury division, I mean the AL Central is providing this writer with a bit of a head scratcher because with so much uncertainty surrounding the top teams in this division I’m not really sure which way to go this year. There are really a lot of what if’s this year. The health of Justin Morneau for the Twins, the shoulder injury to Sox ace Jake Peavy and the little incident involving Tigers All-Star Miguel Cabrera, all are lingering questions that could carry over into the start of the 2011 season. Three teams could easily win this division this year and it should be a dog fight through game 162. 2011 AL Central Winner- Chicago White Sox (I believe Peavy is out for retribution after last year’s disappointing season ending injury and will have a big bounce back in 2011. The addition of Adam Dunn into an already impressive hitting lineup should put the White Sox near the top for most home runs by a team and if their pitching staff holds up it is arguably one of the best that the American League has to offer.)
Consensus from Tim and Mike- Chicago White Sox
The American League West: 2010 Winner- Texas Rangers 90-72
Mike’s Take on the AL West:
I might surprise some people with this pick, but I believe the Oakland A’s will win the AL West. I think the loss of Cliff Lee and Vladimir Guerrero will be too much for Texas to overcome. Signing of Adrian Beltre will backfire, as he only has good years when he is playing for a contract. I love Oakland’s pitching. They are deep in the rotation and in the bullpen. Also, adding DeJesus, Willingham, and Matsui will bring in much needed OBP and leadership. Look for Trevor Cahill to complete for the AL Cy Young.
Tim’s Take on the AL West:
As a die hard Yankee fan, I still have a bitter taste in my mouth from when the Rangers knocked the Yankees out of the playoffs in last year’s ALCS but I have matured and I have to be impartial. The Rangers I think aren’t going to be a one year wonder but there are questions. Can their offense do what they did last year? Will Josh Hamilton repeat his success from the 2010 campaign and will their young pitching staff continue to show growth and development now that they have had a taste of the World Series. The Oakland Athletics boast one of the youngest teams in the big leagues and will this be the year they finally get over the hump? Their pitching staff has the potential to be great and with some new additions to their lineup including Coco Crisp and World Series MVP Hideki Matsui, will they provide the veteran leadership that a young team often can need as the season progresses late into the summer? 2011 AL West Champion- Texas Rangers (Sure they lost out on Cliff Lee but with their starting rotation and lineup pretty much intact from last year, I see no reason why the 2010 Rangers can’t duplicate their success in 2011. They are a battle tested team who when faced with adversity came through last year knocking off both the Rays and the Yankees in succession to reach the World Series.)
Difference in the west: Mike-Oakland Athletics & Tim- Texas Rangers
American League Wild Card Predictions:
Mike’s Take on the AL Wild Card:
You would think if you had payroll of about $200 million, you would be solid in every phase of the game. That is not the case with the Yankees, who are going to have 3 big question marks in the rotation going into 2011. Ivan Nova and Bartolo Colon are the projected 4 and 5 starters for the Bronx Bombers. Add that to AJ Burnett, who seems to have forgotten how to pitch since coming to New York, and you have yourself a very shaky rotation despite having one of the top 10 pitchers in the league in CC Sabathia heading your rotation. But these are the Yankees, and we all know if they need something, they will go out and get it. I predict the Yankees rotation struggles the start of the year, and go out and trade for Felix Hernandez in early July. This move vaults them into the post season via the Wild Card.
Tim’s Take on the AL Wild Card:
The New York Yankees; please hold your boos, I’m not just picking them because they are my boys, I’m picking them because they know how to get the job done and win, plain and simple, not to mention their 200 million dollar payroll. But with this team comes a lot of holes and none larger then their starting rotation which is going to make or break them this season. If the Yankees can get anything out of their 4 and 5 starters then it’ll be a good season in the Bronx otherwise the Yankee Universe could be in-store for a long and drawn out season.
Consensus on the panel- AL Wild Card team is the New York Yankees
Now that the American League is taken care of we will turn our attention to the National League.
Up first, the National League East; 2010 Winner- Philadelphia Phillies 97-65
Mike’s Take on the NL East:
All we have heard about all offseason is how great the Phillies are. Whenever you have a front 4 of Halladay, Lee, Hamels, and Oswalt, you have a chance to win. We all know there is more to baseball then a rotation. You still need an offense and a bullpen. Chase Utley, Jimmy Rollins, and Raul Ibanez are not who they used to, not even close. That and the loss of Jayson Werth will cause the Phillies to struggle to score runs in a very good NL East. The Atlanta Braves are a team that I just love. Their rotation is right up their with the Phillies, although they don’t have as many “name” pitchers. Their offense with the acquisition of Uggla will be very good. They are also in position to make a major move if need be since their farm system is just loaded. Look for new Braves 1B to have at least 25 homeruns in his rookie year. While I think the Phillies have a great rotation, I do believe that they Braves have a better team. I think the Braves will win the NL East, and the Phillies will get to the postseason via the Wild Card, but they should watch out, because the Marlins won’t be too far behind. I was this close to picking the Marlins to win the Wild Card, so look for them to do something’s in their last year at Sun Life Stadium.
Tim’s Take on the NL East:
Well in arguably the easiest division to predict this year, I’ll say three names- Halladay, Lee and Hamels. Oh yeah I forgot Roy Oswalt and Joe Blanton. Yes the Phillies starting five is going to be a force like none other this season and teams in the National League should be on notice. Now of course I’m theoretically assuming that the big horses all stay healthy and if they do my lord, their could be two 20 game winners on this team and you’ll have Halladay and Lee fighting one another to determine the NL Cy Young Award Winner. (Not a bad problem to have) Their lineup is a bit shaky right now with questions surrounding Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins who had his worst season last year and enters the final year of his contract, so you know he’ll produce for the Phillies. The Mets, well they are the New York laughing stock like always and will just fall flat on their faces for yet another disappointing season in the Big Apple. The Atlanta Braves without manager Bobby Cox are going to have no trouble moving on with a new manager as their lineup and pitching staff look to continue the success from last year and with 2B Dan Uggla on a winning team, I expect a lot of big things from him. 2011 NL East Champion- Philadelphia Phillies (Not only will they win the NL East this year by a wide margin but I predict they will have the best record in all of baseball in 2011. They are too loaded from top to bottom and that’s just their pitching staff. Now if their lineup and everyday guys stay healthy and start to hit the ball, all of the majors should pay attention because they will roll through anyone that gets in their path.)
Ruling- Mike likes the Braves and Tim likes the Phillies
The National League Central; 2010 Winner- Cincinnati Reds 91-71
Mike’s Take on the NL Central:
Central Winner: I was all set to pick the Cardinals to win this division going into spring training, but Tommy John surgery for Wainwright changed my mind. The Reds have big question marks with 3 of their starting pitchers being injured right now. The Brewers, who I was going to pick in place of the Cards, have had rotation questions as well. I feel the NL Central will be a 4 team race to the finish. The Cubs have a very nice rotation, and maybe a better bullpen. As much as it hurts for me to say this, I can see them winning this division. More to come on the Cubs shortly.
NL Surprise Team: Chicago Cubs. This might be a surprise to some people. I really like their top 3 starting pitchers in Garza, Dempster, and Zambrano. I also like Cashner who is going to have a good year. Garza is going to dominate the NL, after doing well in the AL. Wood, Marshall, and Marmol will form a very solid back end of the bullpen. If the Cubs have a lead in the 7th inning, odds are they will win with that pen. Soto, Castro, Pena, Ramirez, Byrd, and Colvin should form a very good lineup, and I look to Alfonso Soriano to have a comeback year. The X factor in all of this Mike Quade.
Tim’s Take on the NL Central:
The only attention the NL Central got this offseason was the hype surrounding the contract situation of Albert Pujols. While I understand he is the greatest player in the game today, his so called ‘demands’ for 30 mil a year are just outrageous and this is coming from a Yankees fan. The Cardinals I think will bounce back this year however and prove once again why for the past few years they have always been a force to be reckoned with. As for the other teams like the Astros, Cubs and Pirates, yeah I have nothing good to say about them because let’s face it, they will be in the basement of the NL Central again all year long. The Reds should be loaded and ready to repeat as champs this year also. 2011 NL Central Champion- Cincinnati Reds (Led by the hitting monster known as Joey Votto, I think he’ll lead the Reds into the promise land yet again this year and with Volquez atop their rotation I expect the Reds to handle the weakest division in baseball with relative ease this year.)
Ruling- Mike likes the Cubs and Tim likes the Reds to repeat.
The National League West; 2010 Winner- San Francisco Giants 92-70 *World Series Champions*
Mike’s Take on the NL West:
I can see the NL West going any of 4 ways. Each team has a chance to win the division, each team has great rotations. It is really hard for me to bet against Lincecum, Cain, Sanchez, Bumgarner, and Zito. And now Buster Posey will have an entire year to do his thing. WOW. I still think they are a bat away from running away with this division, but they did win the World Series last year, so they must be doing something right. I think all 4 teams will be within 7 games of each other, but I still think when it is said and done, the Giants will repeat as NL West Champs, and have a chance to defend their title.
Tim’s Take on the NL West:
Yes the Giants won the World Series, it just feels weird to type that out because who would of thunk it? This division was a tight one all year last year and really wasn’t decided until the last week of the regular season. The Rockies have been busy locking up some of their core players and the Padres should be right around the same win plateau as last year. But the big question is will the Giants experience the common World Series hangover? I personally think it will happen this year and that a new team will overtake the champs to take the west crown. 2011 NL West Champion- Colorado Rockies (Led by Troy Tulowitzki, Todd Helton and pitching phenomenon Ubaldo Jimenez the Rockies I think are finally poised to make a serious push not only for the NL West Crown but for a deep run into the postseason as well. They are a young bunch who last season I think gained a lot of feel for what’s it like to play in close games but how it felt to lose in them as well. I think it’s going to be a real motivation tool that drives this team all season long and I think the Rockies are set to have a breakout 2011 season.)
Ruling- Mike likes the Giants to repeat and Tim likes the Rockies to emerge.
National League Wild Card Predictions: As Mike said in the NL East preview he likes the Phillies to capture the Wild Card and Tim likes the Braves.
Tim’s National League Wild Card Winner- Atlanta Braves- The Atlanta Braves to me are a fun and exciting team to watch. I really liked the addition of Dan Uggla whose going to play with a lot more determination now that he is on a team who has a serious good chance to make a deep run into the postseason and even the World Series. Their young lineup and solid pitching staff should keep them within some range of the Phillies but I think the Braves win a lot of close games this year and find themselves when it’s all said and done representing the National League as the Wild Card, just beating out the SF Giants.
So now that the division winners are set and the wild cards from each league here is a breakdown of what Tim and Mike have come up with.
Mike’s 2011 Postseason teams:
AL East: Boston Red Sox
AL Central: Chicago White Sox
AL West: Oakland A’s
AL Wild Card: New York Yankees
NL East: Atlanta Braves
NL Central: Chicago Cubs
NL West: San Francisco Giants
NL Wild Card: Philadelphia Phillies
Tim’s 2011 Postseason teams:
AL East: Boston Red Sox
AL Central: Chicago White Sox
AL West: Texas Rangers
AL Wild Card: New York Yankees
NL East: Philadelphia Phillies
NL Central: Cincinnati Reds
NL West: Colorado Rockies
NL Wild Card: Atlanta Braves
The boys’ ALDS/NLDS Predictions:
Mike- Red Sox vs. A’s & Yankees vs. White Sox/Braves vs. Giants/Cubs vs. Phillies

Tim- White Sox vs. Red Sox/Phillies vs. Braves
The boys’ World Series Predictions:
Mike- Boston Red Sox vs. Atlanta Braves....Braves in 7 Games!!!
Tim- Boston Red Sox vs. Philadelphia Phillies....Phillies in 6 Games!!!
So there you have it friends, all 162 games combined into a simple but yet difficult game of predicting who has the most to fight through the grueling stretches of the season to emerge victorious and win the World Series.

TK
The new Lois Lane is...
As if I weren't already very excited for the new Superman movie entitled; Superman: Man of Steel; news comes today that Academy Award nominee AMY ADAMS, most recently seen and nominated for her role in The Fighter; has been cast as Lois Lane. I think this is an absolutely perfect choice for the role, because Adams is one of the best actresses in Hollywood today.

The Office: Garage Sale Recap
The Office- Garage Sale Recap
Schrutes are farmers by hobby and traders by trade
Thank God, THE OFFICE IS BACK. Had to use the capital letters to stress my excitement. My favorite all-time show has been firing on all cylinders this season and the countdown has begun to post Scott era. It seems like ages ago since we’ve had a new episode and all is right the world once again.
It turns out our Dunder Mifflin employees are having a little garage sale in the middle of a Pennsylvania winter (assuming it’s that, because when Dwight opens the warehouse door they all yell it’s cold and to close it.) Dwight kicks things off with his normal awesome self and is swindling his fellow co-workers to obtain items he wants and get rid of those items he doesn’t no longer need, major kudos Dwight. Michael and Holly well seem to be on separate wave-lengths when it comes to a garage sale because every time someone approaches them to buy something Michael tells them to get lost and I quote, “That’s how it’s done.”
Cue another classic Jim/Dwight moment; as Jim tells Dwight a tale about how he bought a magical lagoon pack and is not trying to sell them to Dwight. We head back upstairs and find that our faithful Mr. Scott is on the phone with none other then Holly’s father telling him he wants to fire her, wait no, discuss his intentions with him, could it be? So in typical Michael Scott fashion, he’s outside in the parking lot apparently playing with a can of gasoline when Pam enters to ask him what he is doing. Well apparently he is writing a message in gas to ask Holly, hmmm. Smart and a sound idea, one of the many Michael has had.
Michael calls a meeting in the conference room but only Pam, Jim, Oscar and Ryan attend, to discuss how to properly propose to Holly. Andy, Kevin and Darryl are enjoying a nice game of Dallas during the garage sale and of course use some southern accents. Holly and Phyllis have an interesting conversation about when you know it’s time for your parents to no longer be on their own. Michael shows them what kind of ring he got Holly, ‘Three years salary,’ he says. We start to reminisce about Jim and Pam’s engagement, who could forget right?
Holly informs Michael that she might need to go home to Colorado to take care of her sick father and shocker, asks Michael to come with him. Then she starts to talk about their comfort with one another and in one of the best scenes ever, Holly starts to ask, ‘Michael Scott will,’ no no no shut it replies Michael! Give me a second to wipe the tears from my eyes. Michael in his office tells us he will not be proposed to in the break room and that he should of burned this building down when he had the chance.
Have to love the board game segment with the three stooges and where the money ends up, in Kevin’s hand. The magical lagoon beans can not be destroyed after all and Dwight sees them and of course has to have them so trades his nice telescope staight up to Jim for them. Michael and Holly go for a nice walk and in typical office romance style, Michael plays it off so wonderfully and sweet, it was terrific. Ok, so this has just become my favorite moment The Office has ever done. It was the most touching, heartfelt and powerful moment that has been building up for 7 long seasons. The proposal scene was so perfect with the candles and of course the sprinklers being set of from the smoke and then the bomb shell- HOLLY SAYS YES!!!!! I’ll admit, I’m so invested in this show, it brought a tear to my eye and I’m not ashamed. Then the second bombshell and it makes perfect sense to play off Michael Scott’s departure, he announces he is moving to Colorado with Holly.
Easily one of the best episodes of The Office ever!!!
Random Moments:
-When Michael puts out the St. Pauly Girl beer sign; says he paid 500 bucks for it, Holly says 10, and the exchange ends with Michael saying get lost.
-Holly- If it’s a problem with the neon, I can have my neon guy take a look.
-Kevin jumping up so fast when they talk about making the Dallas board game interesting.
-Ryan’s Mama Sally jars; loved it.
-Dwight pawning random things on everyone.
-Pam, “We are family and I have always believed we should be involved in everyone’s personal life.”
-Dwight watering the magical bean plants and Jim replacing them with taller plants.
Line of the Night- “Holy shit is that real?” Pam when she sees the ring Michael got Holly & “I should of burned this place down when I had a chance.” Michael Scott about not getting proposed to in the break room.
Oh my God, what an episode and now we have til wait til April 14th for the last three episodes of Michael Scott, grab the Kleenex now my friends.

Taking on the best films of all time: The Voters vs. TK
Hello boys and girls,
So the other night I’m wandering around the house and I notice something on TV that my mom is watching that catches my eye. The program was called ABC News and People’s Best in Film: The Greatest Movies of Our Time. So being the entertainment guru that I am I instantly recorded it on the DVR and finally got around to watching it last night. I must say the results are somewhat spot on but at the same time we are all entitled to our opinions and boy do I have mine.
The results were tabulated by 500,000 people online and that’s how they determined the top 5 for numerous categories including: Best Line, Best Character, Best Sci-Fi Film and of course Best Movie. Don’t you worry ladies there was something for you to; Best Kiss, but sorry I’m not covering that one here, don’t hate me.
So I thought it would be fun to put their list to the test and offer up an interesting debate with my list. Now the rules for my list are simple, it has to be a movie that I’ve seen to qualify otherwise I won’t put it there. Now I’m not going to do every category because quite frankly that would just take too long but I’m going to cover some of the bigger ones from the program including: Best Sci-Fi Film; Best Action Film; Best Character; Best Animated Film, Best Comedy Movie and of course Best Movie, so without further a due let’s get started with our first list.
ABC News/People’s Best in Film List for Best Sci-Fi Film:
5. Close Encounters of the Third King
4. The Matrix
3. Avatar
2. E.T.
1. Star Wars
Now I do respect this list even though I have never seen film choices 2 and 5, I know, what’s wrong with me right?
TK’s Takeout List for Best Sci-Fi Film:
5. The Matrix
4. Inception
3. Jurassic Park
2. Avatar
1. Star Wars
I can’t pass up the fact that Star Wars changed the game forever. Never had a movie been more complex and on such a wide scale then George Lucas’ epic tale of A Galaxy Far Far Away. It’s a movie that will stand the test of time and will always in my eyes be the greatest Science Fiction film of all-time.
ABC News/People’s Best in Film List for Best Action Film:
5. Gladiator
4. Die Hard
3. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
2. The Dark Knight
1. Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark
This list is very loaded from top to bottom but of course it’s not the accurate one; let me show you guys what my list is.
TK’s Takeout List for Best Action Film:
5. The Expendables
4. Spiderman 2
3. 300
2. The Dark Knight
1. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
I grew up reading the classic tales of Frodo Baggins and the Fellowship of the Ring. Never before have I been more engulfed in a book then I was when I read the three Lord of the Rings books and never have I been more captivated at an action movie then Return of the King. It has everything a great action movie requires. Giant and epic battles; personal turmoil and conflict along with some pretty bad ass weapons. Return of the King is one of my favorite movies of all time and easily takes the top spot on my list for Best Action Movie.
ABC News/People’s Best in Film List for Best Character:
5. Indiana Jones
4. Hannibal Lector
3. Scarlett O’Hara
2. James Bond
1. Forrest Gump
All very solid choices by the 500,000 votes casted online but this is the Best Character list of all-time we’re talking about here, surely we can do better then this?
TK’s Takeout List for Best Character:
5. Ace Ventura
4. Dicky Eklund (The Fighter- Christian Bale)
3. Forrest Gump
2. Captain Jack Sparrow
1. The Joker (Heath Ledger)
Let’s face facts; the late and great Heath Ledger’s performance of Gotham City’s most insane villain will go down in my eyes as the single greatest performance of all-time. I left that theater with chills after seeing The Dark Knight for the first time. Every scene with Ledger had me on the edge of my seat and that is the definition of a great character; one in which you’re leaning in on every word they say or every action or mannerism a character has. The Joker takes the cake for Best Character and dares to ask the question, ‘Why So Serious?’
ABC News/People’s Best in Film List for Best Animated Film:
5. Fantasia
4. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
3. Beauty and the Beast
2. Toy Story
1. Lion King
Have seen all of these movies but come on people the technology has changed and animation has evolved into new heights that people never even dreamed of, so I know we can put together a better list then this one!
TK’s Takeout List for Best Animated Film:
5. Shrek
4. Finding Nemo
3. Up
2. How to Train Your Dragon
1. Toy Story
Ok I understand that I’m a 24 soon to be 25 year old male but come on, who didn’t grow up loving Buzz Lightyear and Woody? If you say you didn’t you’re probably just lying to yourself, but please embrace the inner child in you and reminisce about the old times when the first Toy Story came out and think about what a terrific movie it was and remains today. Not to mention that Toy Story 2 and 3 were both awesome in their own right. Toy Story had what most animated films lacked; emotion and a terrific story. Toy Story paved the way for the rest of the movies on my list and will always go down as one of; not just the best animated movie of all time but a classic that will stand the test of time. Say it with me, ‘To Infinity and Beyond!’
ABC News/People’s Best in Film List for Best Comedic Film:
5. Tootsie
4. Young Frankenstein
3. Some Like It Hot
2. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
1. Airplane
Well this list is just pure idiotic, where are the classics, wait what? These are the classic you say? Surely you can’t be serious? Ah, see what I did there? This list truly upsets me because first, I haven’t heard of some of these movies and second, I know we can compile something a little bit more substantial and funnier then this!
TK’s Takeout List for Best Comedic Film:
5. Wayne’s World
4. Anchorman
3. Ace Ventura
2. 40 Year Old Virgin
1. Dumb and Dumber
People seriously this category was by far the toughest thing I’ve ever done, ok not really, but seeing as comedy is my favorite genre this was freaking hard! I had to leave some personal favorites like Tropic Thunder, The Hangover and Airplane off because I just couldn’t squeeze them in anywhere. All undoubtedly funny but these are the comedy movies I grew up on and can watch non-stop; believe me I have. Dumb and Dumber takes the cheese for me. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are the best on screen comedy duo ever, period. Their antics and how brilliantly they play idiots, yes you read that write, is on screen comedy gold and the movie contains one of my top five favorite scenes ever. The one in which Harry is going to the bathroom and the ex-lax he is secretly given takes over, I can’t stop crying every time I see that scene. Bravo gentlemen, bravo!
ABC News/People’s Best in Film List for Best Film:
5. E.T.
4. Casablanca
3. The Godfather
2. The Wizard of Oz
1. Gone With the Wind
I’ll give you guys a second to recover from this sleepy boring list. Now that we’re done with that list let’s move onto something more relevant shall we? (I hope you guys know I’m being sarcastic, these are all defying time period movies and are all classics!)
TK’s Takeout List for Best Film:
5. Remember the Titans
4. The Fighter
3. Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl
2. Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
1. The Dark Knight
Yes this should come as no surprise to anyone who knows me. This movie gripped me from when I saw it at midnight a few years back and it has never let go. This movie to me encompasses everything a great movie should have. Acting, story, drama, comedy and that wow factor. The Dark Knight led by Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart, Heath Ledger, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and many others, is an all-star cast that doesn’t disappoint. The film grabs you from the opening bank robbery scene and leaves you on the edge of your seat as Gary Oldman does the voice over to Batman riding away on the Bat-cycle. This movie in my eyes is the greatest movie of all-time and with news of the next installment beginning to get underway next month, who knows we could be changing my top 5 order after the next one!!!
Alright my friends, that was it. The point of this is to cause you guys to think about what the so called results show and to stimulate your minds and for you to come up with your lists. So please after you read this and you really feel strongly about a category leave a comment ranking your top 5 for one, two or all of the categories if you want. I want to spark some debate here and see your rankings for these historic categories also.
Enjoy!

American Idol Top 11 Rewind
Theme- Mo-Town Week
Casey Abrams; sings I heard it through the Grapevine:
TK's Take- I love the original song and have to say that he does a pretty decent job covering it. His voice is so unique, maybe the most unique in this year’s competition, because when he is singing you know it’s him. I love how he uses his screams and emotion in the performance.
Status- Safe
Thia Magia; sings Heat Wave
TK's Take- Another classic mo-town song. Such an upbeat and quick tempo song and I think it perfectly suits her voice. She shows a lot of energy in tonight’s performance and isn’t just a statue like in recent weeks. I think her voice is amazing and I think she sounds pretty good! Not the best cover by any means but she still sounds good but think she could still be part of the bottom three.
Status- In Jeopardy
Jacob Lusk; sings You’re All I Need to Get By
TK's Take- To be honest I have never heard this song before; so am not familiar with the original version but with Jacob’s version he had me snapping my fingers along. I can’t say anything bad about this guy. His voice like Casey is so distinct and unique you know it’s him singing. He has such a wide range and such a powerful voice especially when he hits those high notes, which I love. I thought he sounded a bit subdue tonight but had that classic Jacob tone to the song. Gets a hug from Steven and a standing ovation from the panel, amazing job!
Status- Safe
Lauren Alaina; sings You Keep Me Hanging On
TK's Take- Another classic mo-town hit. This is such an upbeat and quick tempo song.
I think she sounded ok on this version, didn’t blow me out of the park to be honest. I still envision her as a country artist, she has that tone in her voice when she has sung country in previous weeks. She has the potential to be very good but this performance for me tonight was just alright.
Status- Game time decision, see at the end of the review.
Stefano Langone ; sings Hello
TK’s Take- If you don’t know this classic by Lionel Ritchie then there is something wrong with you. This to me is one of the most haunting ballads of all time, powerful and raw. I like his voice as I think he has that unique quality that separates him from some of the other contestants and I think he delivers a pretty solid performance. I give him credit because this is a very tough song to sing and you have to have that big voice; which in my opinion he doesn’t have. He just has a middle of the road type voice but I still enjoyed it.
Status- Could be at risk for bottom 3
Haley Reinhart; sings You Really Got a Hold on Me
TK’s Take- Thought she should of went home last week and to me I’m sorry her voice isn’t that great, she has that voice that you could hear at any bar. She doesn’t possess that unique stand out quality that the other contestants have. She sang this song ok but after being in the top 3 last week I think she’ll find herself right back there again this week.
Status- Bottom 3
Scotty McCreery ; sings For Once in My Life
TK’s Take- The country boy singing mo-town this could be interesting. Before he even started I couldn’t imagine his deep voice pulling off mo-town but when he started it sounded alright. While this definitely isn’t his genre of music he does provide his own unique stamp on the song. He doesn’t knock it out of the park by any means but gives an enjoyable performance none the less. Has a great country voice and if put into the right hands could become country music’s next big thing, post Idol.
Status- Could be in jeopardy only because of the genre clashing
Pia Toscano ; sings All in Love is Fair
TK’s Take- Another song I didn’t recognize but with Pia it really doesn’t matter because I from the beginning have thought she has the best voice on the female side. She has garnered praise with each week and I think her voice is so genuine and powerful it cuts right through you. She can hit any note and she makes it seem so easy, like she has been doing this for years. I think that she is one of the best singers and will be on this season for many weeks to come.
Status- Safe
Paul McDonald; sings Track of my Tears
TK’s Take- Another song I’m not too familiar with but I’ll be honest people, I haven’t liked his style of voice from the beginning and quite frankly I’m kind of shocked he’s still in the competition. He has a good singing voice but it just doesn’t sit well with me. It’s a bit irritating to me as the song progresses so sorry Paul not a huge fan.He doesn’t really have the wow factor in my eyes.
Status- Could be at risk
Naima Adedapo ; sings Dancing in the Streets
TK’s Take- One of the more recognizable tracks of the evening, but sorry girl you didn’t do anything for me with this performance. It sounded just like a basic cover of the song, she didn’t change anything up at least to me. It sucks because she has a great voice but it seems each week she tends to sometimes over sing the song and sometimes it sounds like screaming to me. Also not a huge fan of her dancing and stupid mix ups she likes to incorporate each week.
Status- Could be in the bottom 3
James Durbin; sings Living for the City
TK’s Take- I’ll get it out of the way now, he has been my favorite from day one, I love his rock and roll type voice and how he can hit the high notes like my favorite singer, Steven Tyler. While I don’t think that this performance was one of his strongest I think he will be a lock to make it to the top 5. His voice is so unique and powerful he has that wow factor which well I personally love from him. I don’t like the fact that he gets called an Adam Lambert ripoff because he’s not. Keep on rocking James!!!
Status- Safe
So here’s my prediction for the bottom 3:
Naima
Haley
Paul
My prediction on whose going home- Haley, should of last week, but viewers will make sure of that this week.
Am I right with my assumptions and opinions, please let me know guys and sound off. Thanks everybody!!!
Tim

Haley
Paul

Modern Family 'Boys Night' Recap
Well after what seemed like an eternity, finally a new episode of television’s best comedy is back- Modern Family. For those who don’t know I absolutely love this show and with the new blog; it’ll be a weekly staple here at the blog, a Modern Family recap that is. I love this show and this is a perfect forum for me to share my opinions on each episode, so I hope all you fellow Modern Family lovers enjoy also.
Absolutely loved the opening couple of minutes of tonight’s show centering around Jay, Gloria and Manny. Jay and Manny’s bickering with one another has become somewhat of a routine in the past few episodes and with each week it only gets bigger and better in this fans opinion. Tonight we see Manny having to experience a life changing event when Gloria hands him scrambled eggs instead of his usual breakfast. He freaks out and we hear about how Jay, when he was younger, tried crab cakes for the first time and fell in love with them. Cut to another classic line by Manny, “That’s a great story Jay does anyone have the movie rights to that.”
We see the Dunphy’s outside enjoying some quality family time that only the Dunphy’s can have. In typical Phil and Claire fashion, this time can’t be just for fun it has to be some sort of competition and we see that the winner of this baseball game we’ll call it, has to wash the dishes for a week. Of course Phil and Claire exchange some excellent one liners with one another and the game abruptly ends with the ball going over the fence. Well this doesn’t sit well Luke, but we are told that their next door neighbor is a horrible person and that they never ever dare talk to him. Our adorable Luke as he refers to himself of course wanders over there and tells the man he wants his ball back.
I absolutely love Luke and think he is one of the show’s strongest characters and love the fact that he is getting more lines as the show progresses. I loved his comments about the air tank and the oxygen tubes connected to his nose. ‘We have air in our house.’ Priceless. Of course Luke establishes a sort of friendship with the man only to anger his parents, who Luke claims they never like any of his friends.
Then in perhaps one of the funniest scenes in MF history, Phil and Claire decide to go meet their next door neighbor for the first time and they see him sitting on his chair not getting up. So they repeatedly knock on the door pushing it open and in classic Phil style he shoves Claire inside the house first to check it out. The two of them on screen together is magic everytime. Of course they wake up the neighbor when Phil checks his pulse and chaos ensues. In the end we find out that this so called evil next door neighbor is a nice lonely old man and him and Luke become friends once more and he even brings them over a bag of onions, but don’t throw a parade, it’s just onions.
Have to talk about Cam and Mitchell, my favorite part of the show. Cam, who in this fans opinion is the best character on TV right now is once again absolutely hysterical. Our guys haven’t had some quality alone time with their fellow gay friends so decide to have a boys night out but with one setback, Haley as Lily’s babysitter. Cut to this restaurant and the return of Nathan Lane as the boisterous Pepper, such a great name and such a great performance by Lane. (Please have him on the show again!) The guys at the table start to reveal their very first man crush and as it’s Mitchell’s turn who do we see enter the bar, Mitchell’s father Jay who is instantly invited over to join the boys by Pepper. Some superb writing, bantering and dialogue took place over the course of this scene because I can’t remember a lot of these lines because quite frankly I was laughing out loud so much I couldn’t hear them all. Here we see Jay kind of surprise not just Mitchell but us the audience as well. Who knew that Jay aka Mr. Straight would have this sort of a side in him? I thought it was very cool to see Mitchell and his dad have this moment together. Major kudos to Pepper and the other gay friends, all of which were equally funny.
Loved the ending of the episode with Gloria and Jay, whose extremely hungover and has apparently set up a lunch date with Pepper. Jay pleads with Gloria to fake an injury to get out of his mess but when the time comes she doesn’t and tells Pepper that Jay is all his for the rest of the day and that he has nothing to do and to take his time, much to the displeasure of Jay.
The reason I love this show so much is the message that each episode delivers and tonight’s was the experiences that we all can gain by trying new things and interacting with new and sometimes different people then we are accustomed too. The point of life is to try new things and meet different people then ourselves, to step out of our personal comfort zone. Without experiencing that danger or newness I’ll call it, life is just going to be the same and quite frankly that can get a little boring. Because in the end you just never know what’s hidden inside yourself or in others, until we step out of the norm and try something new and different.
Other random facts from tonight’s episode:
-Alex talking about the falling birds from the sky; and her parents telling her to stop watching the news
-Haley babysitting and Dylan with no shoes on; and Cam spying on them through the computer
-The return of Pepper, I’ll say it again, classic.
Line of the night- Neighbor- Keep your blinds close when you play your sexy games, oh God he’s seen my sexy games, Phil.

Some Wednesday Entertainment Dish...
Hey guys,
Have come across a few interesting pieces of news this afternoon and wanted to pass them along with you:
Have come across a few interesting pieces of news this afternoon and wanted to pass them along with you:
- The cast of Modern Family is going to be making an appearance on 'Inside the Actors Studio' with host James Lipton. They will be filming their episode in the middle of May with an air date TBA.
- Good Morning America has reportedly offered an invitation to Chris Brown to have him come back to GMA. Brown who has been making headlines for his recent appearnace on the show, threw a cooler backstage and then proceeded to throw a chair through a glass window in his dressing room and left the building shirtless, sounds like a winner to me! ABC has declined to press charges against the singer.
- MTV has picked up two more seasons of 'The Real World' which will bring the season total to 28, yikes!!!
- Last but certainly not least, screen legend Elizabeth Taylor passed away today at the age of 79.

This is TK's takeout and I'm winning...
Hey everybody,
Thank you all for checking out the blog so far, I truly appreciate it. I love writing and I'm so glad to see you guys are responding in a positive way, thank you again. So the point of having a blog is to talk about things that are current and relative and offer up my opinion on them. So other then the devastating Japan situation we have going on, my heart goes out to all of those who have been impacted by this tragedy, there is another thing people just can't seem to get enough...CHARLIE SHEEN!!!
Now while some people really seem to absolutely hate the man right now, you have to admit it's kind of a fun show to watch unfold. After all, this world is completely obsessed, let me repeat OBSESSED with celebrities and everything that they do and say, so Charlie Sheen has proved to be the cream of the crop. I put a poll question up last night to gauge your feelings about Charlie Sheen and if he should be allowed back on TV's Most Watched Comedy- Two and a Half Men and right now, people seem like it's a good idea, while a few say he has dug his own grave.
Now my opinion on this is simple and direct, any network right now would be lucky to get Sheen on their network in any capacity. Why? It's a simple fact, he is the hottest thing in Hollywood right now no denying or arguing it. He would bring the networks some risk I'll give you that but the ratings and attention surrounding a new Sheen project would be through the roof. Case in point, the Charlie Sheen LIVE: My Violent Tornado of Truth Tour. Started out as a two or three city event and has now spread into 20 plus shows. Why, because the initial shows sold out within minutes.
People can't seem to get enough of Charlie Sheen and the fact is people want to know what he will do or what's the man going to say next, after all he does have tiger blood in him, which us normal humans can't handle, this much I do get! I'd kill to go to this tour and watch him rant and talk for two hours because I think it would be one of the funniest and most interesting things I could ever witness in person. The man either has a plan laid out in his head or he is digging his own grave either way, right now Sheen is winning, whether we like to admit it or not.

Something I'm really looking forward to in the foreseeable future other then my new blog is that I'm going on my first ever cruise this June with a huge group of people and it's going to be the time of my life, it's going to be something I'll always remember!!!
So for Tim's Takeout, it's pretty much just my take on things going on today in our crazy world. Feel free to leave comments on my postings and leave me suggestions on things you might want me to write about, I'm open to talking about anything and everything!!!
Can't wait to post some new exciting things soon...and for those who used to follow my TV show recaps and movie reviews, don't you worry, those aren't going anywhere!!! That's my passion and I'll be delivering some very very soon.
Happy to be back!!!
