TK's Takeout Weekly 'Sound Off'

Hello everybody,

So as I was at work today my boss Tommy (name shoutout) suggested something that I could implement into the blog and I loved it so much I decided to run with it. The sound off though is not about me, it's about you guys. Here's how it is going to work.

I will present a topic at the beginning of each week and I want you guys to comment on it. At the end of the week I will provide you all with my take on the subject, using thoughts and comments that you guys leave in my take so that we all get our points across and so it's not just one sided. So please leave me your thoughts and tell your friends to leave their comments as well.

So the first ever topic for the brand new TK's Takeout 'Sound Off':

As we all know Osama Bin Laden was just recently killed by the United States military in a coordinated effort led by our troops. So after the news broke, people all over Facebook were sharing their thoughts and feelings and were often celebrating the fact that this man was killed.

So the question is, was it wrong or right to celebrate Bin Laden's death on a public forum like Facebook? Is it wrong to celebrate a man's death?

Let the posting begin!!!

  1. I am glad people celebrated. After what happened on 9/11, it was closure for a lot of people. Everyone was effected by 9/11, some more then others, obviously. When I first heard about it, I was extremely happy, I even posted on fb saying "Bin Laden... He Gone!!!" I wasn't happy for me, but for all of the families that lost someone close to them on that day. There probably were some people celebrating just to celebrate, but for the most part, what I saw was American's coming together all around the country...it almost seemed like a weight was lifted. I can see why some people would say celebrating someone's death isn't a good thing, and everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I don't see anything wrong with celebrating Bin Laden's death! It was a great day in America IMO.

  2. I would have to agree with mike! i mean there are families i know of who lost loved ones. Moms, dads, grandparents and its kind of a sense of closure if i went through this ordeal as a child back on 9/11. I celebrated i was so happy that we finally took down a man who caused America so much pain and hurt. Its a great achievement for our military to find him and take him out with none of our troops being injured. I truly love our troops i could never do what they do so to them i congratulate them! And im just happy a evil man like him is finally dead. He had it coming!

  4. i told you i would comment on this 'sound off', so this is my opinion...
i think that it is a great accomplishment and stride for our country that bin laden was killed, but i have to look at your question from both sides. yes, we Americans are celebrating that he is dead, but what about those in afghanistan who would have looked up to bin laden. most of the people, especially the women, in afghanistan are silenced and have no clue what is going on in their country or government so they may have thought what bin laden was doing was best for their country so some of them are grieving b/c he is dead. wouldn't those in the U.S. be angry with the afghan people if they were celebrating the killing of one of our own. i mean some of them celebrated after 9/11 and we were pissed. i think it is sort of a punch in the gut to the afghan people, but don't get me wrong, i am glad that idiot is dead!
